Lot Description

Thomas Sully (1783-1872) Portrait of Elizabeth (Lizzie) Parker of Media, PA, 1866

Oil on canvas, framed; with companion velvet heart and note inscribed, "For dear Brooks for 'the House Beautiful'/ Thomas Sully gave me this heart when he painted my portrait to keep away all disease. He tied it around my neck and I wore it a long time. With love your Aunt. Elizabeth .....Parker/ Dec. 25 1933/ Me Carter", mounted in frame.

23 3/4 in. x 19 1/2 in. (portrait, sight), 7 1/2 in. x 6 3/4 in. (note, sight)
