No place, January 26, 1801. 3 1/4 x 7 1/4 in. (82 x 184 mm) (sight). Autograph note, signed by Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Virginia, George Wythe, cut from a larger document. Lightly foxed. In mat and in frame, unexamined out of frame, 9 3/4 x 14 in. (248 x 355 mm).
George Wythe (1726-1806) was a well-respected lawyer and judge, who during his time as a law professor at the College of William and Mary, was mentor to future statesmen Thomas Jefferson, John Marshall, and Henry Clay.
