[Declaration of Independence] [Massachusetts] Gerry, Elbridge Partially-Printed Document, signed

No place (likely Boston), April 29, 1812. Single sheet, 8 x 13 1/4 in. (203 x 337 mm). Partially-printed document, signed by Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Massachusetts, Elbridge Gerry (1744-1814), as Governor of Massachusetts, appointing Nathan Nickerson a Captain in the Second Regiment, Fifth Division, of the Massachusetts State Militia; counter-signed by Benjamin Homans. Printed attestation on verso signed by Jonathan Snow, certifying Nickerson took his oath. Toned; scattered foxing, affecting signature; creasing from old folds, some separations along same. In mat and in frame, 13 3/4 x 19 3/4 in. (350 x 502 mm).
