[Declaration of Independence] [Connecticut] Sherman, Roger Partially-Printed Autograph Document, signed
New Milford, September 22, 1755. Partially-printed document, completed and signed by Signer of the Declaration of Independence from Connecticut, Roger Sherman, as Justice of Peace, ordering the Sheriff of Litchfield to collect one hundred pounds from Eaton Jones; additionally signed by Sherman on verso. Creasing from old folds; very light foxing. In frame, 12 x 11 1/4 in. (305 x 285 mm).
Roger Sherman (1721-1793) was the only Founding Father to sign all four important early American charters: The Continental Association, The Declaration of Independence, The Articles of Confederation, and the U.S. Constitution.
