Lot Description

[Declaration of Independence] The National Medallion in Memoriam Majorum

(New York: Samuel H. Black, ca. 1859). Large ornate and decorative copper plaque, printed in relief with the full text of the Declaration of Independence at top, a history at bottom titled, "Battle Role of the Revolution," with a summary of Presidents from George Washington to James Buchanan, and with four central medallions depicting John Trumbull's famous painting of the Declaration, the front and back of the "Washington Before Boston Medal," and facsimile signatures of all the Signers of the Declaration. Lightly worn, small patches of oxidation. 17 x 13 in. (432 x 330 mm).
