The Junior Museum in Chicago, which commissioned this poster, was originally founded in 1964 by the Women's Board of the Art Institute of Chicago, with the aim of being devoted to exhibitions for schoolchildren. The poster features two of Sendak's monsters from his most enduring work, Where the Wild Things Are.
