Lot Description

A Staffordshire enameled round wall plaque Painted by Clarice Cliff (English, 1899-1972), Arthur J. Wilkinson, Royal Staffordshire Pottery, England, circa 1935

After the work by Sir Frank William Brangwyn RA (Welsh, 1867-1956), titled British Empire Panel (11) India, depicting a scene from British colonized India, noted on verso, "The Brangwyn panels designed for the Royal Gallery of the House of Lords 1925/ first exhibited at Olympia 1933/ Painted by Clarice Cliff from one of the panels. A Wilkinson/ Royal Staffordshire Pottery/ Burslem/ Staffordshire," and bearing "AW" cipher, and signed, "Frank Brangwyn."
