The observe decorated with a foliate border enclosing a feather-pattern border with compass points and a map of Dorset, centered on the area north of Dorchester, labeled "CHANTMARLE" (a Grade I listed Tudor house built by Joseph and Daniel Rowe of Hamdon, for Sir John Strode)
Impressed "WEDGWOOD MADE IN ENGLAND" marks, inscribed Alfred Powell's cipher and the number 2072 in blue
