A Monumental Renaissance-Style Ewer and Stand UK, 1870s

Glazed earthenware
Designed by Hugues Protât, this example decorated in the style of Delftware, with cobalt blue hand-painted decoration on the white body
The form was produced by Wedgwood in various bodies and wares in the 1860s and 1870s and widely exhibited, including at the 1871 London Exhibition
Both pieces impressed "WEDGWOOD", "JKD" and "GCD" (both on bottom of ewer, date code for 1875)
