(ii), 386 pp. Publisher's brown cloth, stamped in blue; top edge stained red, other edges trimmed; in original illustrated dust-jacket by Alan Haemer, and in additional publisher's limited edition printed dust-jacket with matching number.
A near-fine copy of Pulitzer Prize-winning American author A.B. Guthrie's first Western novel, and the first of his six historical novels about the Oregon Trail and the development of Montana. The basis for the 1952 Howard Hawks film starring Kirk Douglas.
