Pocantico Hills, New York, August 1, 1921. One sheet, 10 3/8 x 8 in. (264 x 203 mm). Typed letter, signed by American business magnate John D. Rockefeller, on his Kijkuit House stationery, to physician Dr. John W. Robertson of Tarrytown New York: "Dear Dr. Robertson:/I have been trying for days and weeks to get/you-but unsuccessfully. I know you are very busy./I believe you are doing a great deal of good in the com-/munity. I fear you are disregarding your own health and/comfort too much. When you are in the office again, I wish/you woul call up No. 9 Tarrytown, and ask for Mr. Yordi,/or Mrs. Evans or Mr. Davis, so we may have a chance to get/a word with you./I wish you could come sometime and take lunch with/me, or a breakfast. Indeed, I shall be glad to have you/drop in any time you are in our neighborhood at meal time,/so that we may have a little interchange of thought. I value/your ideas./With the kindest regards and every best wish,/Sincerely yours,/John D. Rockefeller"; creasing from contemporary folds; with original mailing envelope.

Dr. John W. Robertson (1859-1928) was the personal physician to Rockefeller's associate John D. Archbold, as well as Rockefeller's brother, William Jr. For years he practiced medicine with esteem at the Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan.

A handsome example with a crisp signature.
