Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece portrait of Franklin in first and fourth volumes. Original three-quarter black morocco over dark blue cloth-covered boards, stamped in gilt, joints and extremities variously rubbed and dry, leather on front and rear boards variously discolored; top edges gilt, other edges trimmed; marbled endpapers; by Jas. Macdonald Co. N.Y.; with the engraved Tiffany book-plate of United States judge Harold R. Medina (1888-1990) on front paste-down of each volume.
