Lot Description
A group of five Marine items 18th / 19th century
Comprising a Liverpool creamware pitcher, with laurel wreath cartouches under spout inscribed, "Success to the Infant Navy of America" and "WK," one side bearing bearing poem describing success of the new nation alongside depiction of American ships beside fortified structures and people working the land, the other side depicting naval battle of the USS Constellation vs. L'Insurgente on February 9, 1799, and patriotic eagle and shield below handle; a stone china plate by J.W. Pankhurst & Co., encrusted with coral on edge; a ship and lighthouse diorama in a bottle, with interior label inscribed, "Made by John Peterson/ Tuckahoe, N.J."; a portable brass telescope; and a tinware case with miniature scale and weights.
