Lot Description

The McKean family George II silver quaich Scotland, 18th century

Of typical form with two handles and footed base, decorated with incised lines, the handles engraved, "M" and "Mc: K," with partially rubbed mark to underside within heart-form reserve; together with a land grant on vellum, signed by Governor Thomas McKean and Deputy Secretary James Trimble (1755-1837), dated February 2, 1805, which gave Robert Walker a tract of land called Dundee, located on Buffalo Creek, Donegall Township, Washington County, presented alongside an engraved portrait of Thomas McKean by T.B. Welch after Gilbert Stuart, matted and framed.
