Lot Description
[Music] [Dylan, Bob] Glaser, Milton Bob Dylan
1966. Original off-set color lithographic poster. 33 x 22 in. (838 x 559 mm). Creasing from original folds.
Columbia Records commissioned legendary American graphic designer Milton Glaser (1929-2020) to produce this iconic image of Bob Dylan following his infamous motorcycle accident in 1966, for inclusion in Dylan's forthcoming Greatest Hits album (1967). Glaser drew inspiration from Marcel Duchamp's 1957 Self-Portrait in Profile, and rendered Dylan in profile with a psychedelic-infused swirling coif of rainbow colored hair. This is one of Glaser's most celebrated designs, and is one of the most recognizable poster designs of the 20th century. A handsome example.
