Old Master Drawing
Expert note:
Clearly for or after a print. It seems to be (partially) pounced for transfer. Pollaiuolo it certainly is not. As you know. Images of the Feast of the Gods or the Wedding of Peleus and Thetis were very common, especially with Flemish artists of the 16th and 17th century as this invokes. Its odd though to find such cramped composition and indoors – its usually depicted outdoors in some kind of idealized Eden. That and the insistent flatness of the composition, along with the crazy insistence on identifying everyone with their attributes, starts to look more neoclassical, a much later style. Either way its not particularly accomplished and in rotten condition which takes the pressure off somewhat. I would say it could well be German or central European. Not worth very much.
