Paris: Philippe Gonin for A. Zwemmer, London, 1937. First and limited edition, #144/250 numbered copies signed by Maillol. 12mo. Text in English (also printed in French and in German). Illustrated with woodcuts by Aristide Maillol. Original full vellum, titled in gilt; top edge trimmed, other edges untrimmed; in linen-covered leather-entry slip case. The Artist and the Book 174

"Small in scale, it perhaps the most harmonious of Maillol's illustrated books." (The Artist and the Book 174). A fine copy.
