Lot Description

[Americana] Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union...

No place, no date (ca. 1780s). Three sheets, disbound, likely from a contemporary edition of acts and laws from an undetermined state (possibly an edition of the Acts and Laws for the state of Connecticut). Sheets toned, trimmed along edges, scattered chipping to fore-edges of same. Each sheet measuring 11 3/8 x 6 3/4 in. (289 x 171 mm), and in mat, 14 5/8 x 24 in., and in frame, 16 x 25 1/2 in. (406 x 648 mm).

A handsomely framed piece of this important document and predecessor to the United States Constitution. While we cannot identify the volume from whence these sheets were disbound, the layout, minus some very small differences, exactly matches the Articles in the first edition of the Acts and Laws of the State of Connecticut, in America printed by Timothy Green in 1784.
