[Americana] Jay, John Signed Military Commission

Albany, New-York, March 23, 1797. Partially-printed military commission, signed by Founding Father John Jay, as Governor of New York ("John Jay"), appointing Rouse Perry, Esquire, captain of a Regiment of Militia in the County of Ontario, serving under Lieutenant-Colonel Benjamin Wills; counter-signed by secretary Jasper Hopper, dated March 25, 1797. Remnants of red wax seal intact; creasing from original folds, separated along right fold, other small separations along folds; toned; scattered wear along edges.
