Mounted to a larger sheet removed from a scrapbook, 14 1/4 x 10 3/8 in. (362 x 263 mm). Unrelated autograph letter in an undetermined [French] hand, mounted at bottom of same sheet, but not affecting Jackson's note.

W.J. McNeil was an engineer, who, alongside future president Zachary Taylor, was appointed by President Jackson to survey the Northwestern Frontier for the building of frontier defenses and roads.
