[Literature] Twain, Mark (Samuel Langhorne Clemens) The Writings, Definitive Edition

New York: Gabriel Wells, 1922-25. In 37 volumes. Definitive Edition, #283/1,024 numbered sets signed by Twain ("S.L. Clemens/Mark Twain") and his biographer Albert Bigelow Paine. This set also has two pages of manuscript from "The Gilded Age" bound in at front of first volume, one page in Twain's hand, the other in the hand of his collaborator, Charles Dudley Warner. Full blue crushed levant, elaborately stamped in gilt; top edges gilt, other edges trimmed; full blue levant and orange morocco doublures; moire silk endleaves; book-plate on front and rear paste-down of each volume.
