An embroidered stumpwork panel of King Solomon receiving The Queen of Sheba England, mid-17th century
Elaborately worked, the Biblical figures depicted as Charles I and his consort Henrietta Maria in contemporary dress, surrounded by courtiers and attendants in a lush landscape, with sun, trees, fruit, flowers, buildings, and various animals: lion, dog, birds, and insects; frame with later silver plaque engraved, "Stuart Needlework from Wroxton Abbey."
