Lot Description
[Literature] [Algonquin Round Table] The Letters of Alexander Woollcott
New York: The Viking Press, 1944. First edition. 8vo. 410 pp. Typed letter, signed, from Woollcott to fellow Algonquin Round Table member, Robert Benchley, dated April 10, 1932, mounted to front paste-down. In it he wonders if Benchley would like to comment on an editorial involving then governor of New York, Franklin Delano Roosevelt and The New York Times, in The Wayward Press, the weekly column in The New Yorker magazine that Benchley wrote for between 1927 and 1939 as "Guy Fawkes". Original blue cloth, unevenly faded and darkened, and with a few spots; top corner of text block lightly affected by damp, in first half of book.
