Lot Description

[Children's & Illustrated] Kent, Rockwell Group of 4 Items, Including 2 Signed

This Is My Own New York: Duell, Sloan and Pearce, (1940). First edition. 8vo. 393 pp. Signed by Kent on front free endpaper. Publisher's oatmeal cloth, stamped in blue; top edge stained black, faded, fore-edge untrimmed; dust-jacket chipped and with a few closed tears, spine darkened. From the library of WPA artist and muralist Meyers Rohowsky (1900-1974), who was a friend and colleague of Kent's, as well as Louise Nevelson, Louis Lozowick, Harry Bertoia, etc. Included in this lot is a Typed Letter, signed, by Kent, on his Ausable Forks letterhead, dated May 30, 1941, to Rohowsky, thanking him for taking part in an event honoring Kent two weeks earlier. Also included is the 8-page program from The United American Artists Honor at Testimonial, honoring Kent, May 17, 1941. Lastly, a rare calendar, "Victory 1942", featuring "sixteen prints for democracy" (Kent illustrated the cover and Rohowsky a page in this calendar).
