[Photography] Group of 8 Czech Avant-Garde Photographs

1. Bartyška, Josef Marie Circa 1930s. Three gelatin silver prints mounted on paper. With certificate of authenticity from the Museum of Decorative Arts, Prague. Images: approximately 1 1/8 x 1 1/2 in. (29 x 38 mm) each. Sheets: 1 3/8 x 1 3/4 in. (35 x 44 mm) each. Paper: 9 x 6 1/8 in. (229 x 156 mm). Josef Bartuška was a part of the avant-garde group Linie. 2. Chocola, Václav Carousel Horses 1958. Gelatin silver print. Signed, titled, and dated in pencil on verso. Image/sheet: 11 3/4 x 15 7/8 in. (298 x 403 mm). 3. Ehm, Josef The Bourgeois, Prague Fair Figures Circa 1930s. Gelatin silver print. Signed in ink with Pawel Barchan stamp and note in an unknown hand on verso. Image/sheet: 7 1/8 x 6 1/2 in. (181 x 165 mm). Josef Ehm was a Czech photographer and teacher who co-edited the Czech magazine Photographic Horizon with Jaromír Funke from 1939 to 1941. 4. Feyfar, Zdenko Portrait of Josef Sudek 1945. Gelatin silver print. Pencil notation and photographer's stamp on verso. Image/sheet: 10 7/8 x 8 3/4 in. (276 x 222 mm). Zdenko Feyfar's portrait of photographer Josef Sudek depicts him wearing the harness-like contraption he used to carry his camera after he lost his arm in 1917 during the war. 5. Reichmann, Vilém Stone Sculpture of a Seated Figure Circa 1960. Gelatin silver print. Signed in pencil on verso. Image: 13 1/8 x 11 7/8 in. (333 x 302 mm). Sheet: 13 5/8 x 12 1/2 in. (346 x 318 mm). Vilém Reichmann is best known for his photographs of the city of Brno and his surrealist still lifes. 6. Zmatlik, Y.A. The Tune of the Winter on the Mlodau 1934. Gelatin silver print mounted on board. Signed in pencil below image. Title in ink in an unknown hand, with Museum of Science and Industry, Chicago, IL, label and stamp on verso. Accompanied by a letter from the museum certifying that the photo was in its collection from the early 1930s until 2005. Image: 10 5/8 x 10 1/2 in. (270 x 267 mm). Sheet: 17 3/8 x 13 1/2 in. (441 x 343 mm).
