(Virginia), July 14, 1832. 2 1/4 x 6 7/8 in. (57 x 174 mm). Partially printed Office of Bank U. States, Washington check, signed by Madison, and made payable to booksellers Thompson & Homans for $5. Verso expertly reinforced with tissue, and cancellation slits closed. Left edge hinge-mounted on an 11 x 8 in. (279 x 203 mm) sheet with an engraved portrait of Madison. Lot includes an additional engraved portrait of Madison.
