George Washington (1789-97) Signed Military Discharge

(Newburgh, New York): Head-quarter's, June 7, 1783. Partially printed military discharge, 8 1/4 x 8 in. (209 x 203 mm). Signed by Washington ("Go. Washington"), as Commander in Chief of the Continental Army, discharging Alexander Anderson of the Second New York Regiment of the American Army, and countersigned by his aide-de-camp John Trumbull, Jr. Lacking Badge of Merit portion; chipping and small closed tears along edges; scattered soiling; tape repairs at folds on verso. Lot includes a postcard of Washington.
