A Lwalwa mask, mfondo Democratic Republic of Congo
Carved wood, the flat coif decorated with a zigzag band, above a concave face bisected by a prominent nose, rectangular pierced eyes, pursed mouth and lug ears, the face coloured with kaolin, raised on a bespoke mount.
