Lot Description

A Bankoni figure Mali, c. 1200 - 1600 AD

Fired terracotta, the female figure shown standing, with serene countenance, the face a mixture of human and zoomorphic features, the arms held to the sides and covered in bangles, the torso and back with a series of linear depressions perhaps denoting clothing or scarification, raised on a bespoke mount.
