Various cotton and velvet pieces comprise assorted devices including an American Eagle with shield, anchor, "Hope," plant in urn, chicken, initials, cross, and two purses, one purse embroidered "May 30, 1774," a probable reference to the 1774 Resolution passed in Williamsburg, Virginia to discuss the punitive taxing imposed on the North American Colonies by Parliament after the Boston Tea Party in the Coercive Acts or Intolerable Acts. .
