First illustrated edition. 4to. 312 pp. Including original publisher's printed slip tipped in at front, explaining delay of release until 1910, due to author's illness. Illustrated with frontispiece and six wood engraved plates by Eugene Dété after Paul Thiriat, with captioned tissue guards. Sometime rebound in three-quarter japon vellum, scattered minor abrasions, stamped in black, over grey paper-covered boards; top edge gilt, other edges trimmed; light spotting to prelims, small scattered spotting at bottom edge of text.
