New York: December 13, 1867. 3 1/3 pp. on legal size paper, bound at the top edge with metal clasp and orange paper backing, signed by William Orton of the Western Telegraph Company. Agreement between His Imperial Majesty the Emperor of Russia and The Western Union Telegraph Company acting through plenipotentiary Hiram Sibley, in acknowledgement of the decision to discontinue their attempts to run a telegraph cable from Alaska to Siberia. The agreement notes that the project incurred expenses upwards of $2,575,000.
