New York: Longmans, Green and Co., 1909. First edition, first printing. 8vo. Presentation copy, inscribed to front free endpaper in the month of publication: "George C. Cox / with warm regards, / from Wm. James / Oct 11. '09". Publisher's quarter green cloth over gray-green boards, white paper spine label, spine toned with some wear to ends, paper label darkened and rubbed; portrait of James clipped from a newspaper laid on to front paste-down, some offsetting to front free endpaper; interior tight and clean. With a gift inscription from George Cox to Robert W. Martin dated 1936 and additional letter from Cox to Martin laid in dated 1941.
