Untrimmed, leaf size 222x139mm.,(i)-vii(viIi), (1)-279,(280)pp+ folding map, 5 folding plates, extra plate, 3 line errata on p(viii), advts. on p.(280), 32pp. pub. catalogue. Illustrated with engraved folding map, 4 folding engraved plates, 1 hand-colored lithographic geological cross-section by J.B. Sowerby Junior; also with an extra folding plate of shells at back with ms. caption (this plate likely serving as advertisement for Sowerby in his function as a publisher). Publisher's purple cloth, decorated in blind and stamped in gilt to spine, edges untrimmed, with Westley & Clark binder's ticket to rear pastedown of the original yellow endpapers; cloth mostly faded to brown, moderately sunned at edges, corners bumped, rebacked with most of original spine laid down, preserving the faded gilt title; 20th-century bookplate on front pastedown, ink ownership on front free endpaper recto.
