On the second page of a folded 4to sheet, endorsing a manuscript request, on its first page, from the U.S. Senate Chamber, petitioned by the mother of a presumed Confederate soldier to allow her son to be administered the loyalty oath effected by Lincoln's Proclamation of Amnesty and Reconstruction. "Let this man / take the oath / of Dec. 8 1863 & / be discharged / A. Lincoln / January 14 1865."
