Philadelphia: Robert Desilver, 1828. 4to. Illustrated with folding map and five leaves of ads at front. With publisher's printed slip hinge mounted to verso of front board and the ownership signature of Dr. Thomas Harris on front blanks. Original calf-backed printed boards, boards scuffed, corners bumped, spine rubbed; morocco spine label Thomas Harris (1784-1861), U.S. naval surgeon, president of the naval board of medical examiners, chief of the bureau of medicine and surgery. Oversaw construction of the naval hospital in Philadelphia, participated in the campaign against the Barbary pirates, took part in the engagement between the USS Wasp and HMS Frolic, and operated on President Andrew Jackson in 1832, extracting a bullet Jackson had received in a duel nearly 20 years earlier. .
