Paris: J. Hetzel, 1842. First book edition. 8vo. In two volumes, with numerous plates. Three-quarter red leather, stamped in gilt, over marbled paper-covered boards, rubbing to extremities and spines slightly cocked; first and last few leaves of both volumes foxed.

Vignettes by Balzac, George Sand, and others after Grandville's illustrations. J.J. Granville was the pseudonym of Jean Ignace Isidore Gérard Grandville, a French caricaturist.
