The top depicting the packet ship owned by Daniel Carpenter Bacon (1787-1856) of Barnstable and Boston, Massachusetts; inscribed "Ship 'Packet' Built in Braintree 1802. Owned by Daniel C. Bacon", the interior lined with newsprint from "The Boston Courier," May 7, 1837.
