Lot Description

A French Mamluk style gilt and enameled glass mosque lamp second half 19th century

The compressed conical body with exaggerated flared rim, the neck enameled with Thuluth script calligraphy above a double parcel-gilt foliate band, the body with three applied loop handles segmenting a band of blue ground with vacant Thuluth script calligraphy against a blue enamel ground, the underside decorated with alternating polychrome-filled reserves against a parcel-gilt ground of arabesques.
