Lot Description

A Neapolitan giltmetal-mounted porcelain box together with four figurines late 19th century

The rectangular box with a polychrome rendering of the Triumph of Bacchus and Ariadne, with blue underglaze marks for the Capodimonte factory, Naples, and containing a handwritten note: "Bertha: little box from Lizzie Thompson's card party 1896;" together with a figure of a courtier, a highland guardsman, a bust of Mars, and a figure of Vulcan, all with crowned N marks, possibly for Capodimonte or for Potschappel, Dresden.
