Lot Description

A group of Bohemian bride's bonnets probably Prague, circa 1850

Comprising two linen bonnets of very fine 'krumplování' decoration, the first with wide brim and allover embroidered with gold and silver thread, the back with couched motif of blooming flowers embellished with sequins and blue, red, and clear glass jewels, the second without brim and heavily embroidered in silk and gold thread on stiff linen frame, the back with roped embroidery depicting a resplendent sunflower embellished with sequins and cut-steel beads, the interior lined in printed muslin; and a third lace bonnet with silver and gold couched embroidery in foliate motifs; sold together with a white linen Sabbath bonnet worn by Johanna Hirschberg, Berlin, Germany, circa 1850, and an atara embroidered with silver thread.
