Lot Description
A fine Régence ormolu-mounted parquetry kingwood and amaranth bracket clock Etienne Roquelon (French, maître 1718), circa 1730-40
Of typical form, the white segmented enamel dial with blue numerals housed in a parquetry case surmounted by a putto with eternal flame, the case further mounted with ormolu appliques and gryphon sabots; the brass backplate signed 'Roquelon A Paris', the eight-day movement with silk suspension, verge escapement, and chime at the hour and half hour with dial lever for resetting the chimes; the conforming bracket similarly decorated with central eagle-form ormolu applique, the corners mounted with masques de comédie.
