Lot Description
A collection of French silver tastevins various makers, 18th and early 19th centuries
Comprising from largest to smallest a tastevin with serpent-form handle and chased with grapevines, engraved to edge "CASPARD SAUVAGEOT 1797;" a tastevin with geometrically stylized serpent-form handle and chased gadrooning, inset at well with an Italian 1 lira coin dated 1812 depicting "Napoleone Imperatore e Re," engraved to edge "P.TOURTOULOU;" a tastevin with stylized serpent-form handle, engraved with a flowering urn and large "ANTOINE GUILLAUMAIT;" a tastevin with double-serpent handle punch-decorated with grape bunches, with Minerva mark and unknown maker's mark at rim; and a small tastevin with scrolled handle punch decorated with repoussé in geometric pattern, with Minerva mark, guarantee, and unknown maker's mark to handle.
