Lot Description
Three George III sterling silver objects by the Bateman Family Hester, Peter, Anne & William Bateman, London, various dates
Comprising a teapot on associated stand and a silver-gilt beaker, the teapot of oval cannister form and allover decorated with bright-cut scrolling foliate designs, centering a lozenge with the arms of Carr (likely those of Louisa Carr, later Viscountess Beresford, d. 1851) and marked for Hester Bateman, London, 1787 on base and lid, the conforming associated oval stand on ball and claw feet similarly engraved with unknown arms within a ribbon tied lozenge struck to base and marked for Hester Bateman, London, 1786 and with a presentation engraving 'EC*JG 1786'; the silver-gilt beaker of typical form and marked to base for Peter, Ann & William Bateman, London, 1800, and with a later presentation inscription "WJD" and dated 1881.
