Lot Description

A large Regency gilt-bronze mounted ebony-inlaid satinwood musical bracket clock J. Massey, Lambeth, England, 1810-1820

Of Gothic form, the steel dial set within gilt-bronze spandrels below a music dial with seven selections: "Rule Britannia," "Marche Russe," "Final de Lodoiska," "Air en Haydins Ouverture," "Marche in Pizzaro," "Air Russe," and "Cobourg Walse;" the base, sides, and rear all with soundholes mounted with gilt-bronze tracery lined in (later) crimson silk, the sides and rear opening to reveal the works; the etched backplate and pendulum with brass crutch, the eight-day triple fusée movement with twelve musical bells and additional striking bell with quarterly chime.
