Lot Description
A Korean brown lacquer box inlaid with shagreen, tortoiseshell and brass wire Joseon dynasty, 19th/early 20th century
The cover decorated with two panels, each inlaid with the Eight Trigrams surrounding a yin-yang symbol; interior of cover inscribed with "showa yonnenn sangatsu muika o kyotofu maeda sei"; the sides of the body inlaid with stylized shou-characters surrounded by butterflies, shou symbols and Chinese characters representing the eight Confucian virtues.
