Lot Description

A Korean mother of pearl-inlaid four-tiered box on stand joseon dynasty, 19th century or earlier

Of square section with lobed corners, each section enclosing three shaped removable compartments, the top decorated with a pair of cranes bringing reeds to a pavilion on a rocky promontory, stylized lotus scroll border, the sides with panels of lotus and gourds and butterflies, or prunus, narcissus and nandina, bordered by cash diaper at the corners, all raised on a scroll-inlaid stand, with shaped skirt, cabriole legs and box stretcher.
