A large needlework sampler "ann l. clements aged 10 years july 2nd 1817"
Worked with silk threads; a central poem is positioned above a depiction of a church and graveyard, with willow tree and birds, all surrounded by a meandering flower vine border; with inscription to verso delineating family history, "This sampler was the property of Susan Croxtin a half sister of my grandfather's. She became the wife of Dr. Jeffrie's of Tappahannock, VA. It was passed to me by Kate Jeffies McDaniel wife of J.C. McDaniel. I wish it to go at my death to one of Jimmie and Kate's daughters, my nieces. They can arrange this themselves...March 1st, 1928..."; matted and framed.
