Lot Description

Two needlework samplers 19th century

The first, worked with a large house flanked by potted flowers surmounted by wreaths, potted flowers, and floral reserve enclosing the initials and date, "D.D.B and 1840," silk threads on a linen ground, framed; together with a smaller sampler with a sentimental verse above potted flowers and panel with spot devices and leafy reserve enclosing inscription, "Agd. 7 ys Maria Gilson, 1816," all within a floral vine, silk threads on a wool ground, framed.
