Lot Description

Two gold and ivory mourning rings Probably England, dated 1793 and 1794

The first of of marquise form, painted with woman beside obelisk monument inscribed, "MS/ MAY 16/ 1793/ HIS/ EVENING/ CLOS'D IN/ PEACE," beaded gold surround, the reverse inscribed, "JY/ to/ M. Clarke"; the second, of oval form, with young girl leaning on plinth topped with covered urn and inscribed, "IN MEMORY/ OF MARY/ ANN FULLER," beaded gold surround, the reverse inscribed, "Died/ 12 June/ 1794/ Aged 3 yrs"; both seemingly unmarked.
